The government of Gujarat had announced and created a new department at the Sachivalaya Level namely the “Women and Child Development Department” and also approved the ordinance to establish a state Women’s Commission.

To Discuss the action required for setting up and operationalizing the new Department and to obtain an insight into the aspiration of NGOs and women from all walks of life and the Social Justice and Empowerment Department.
Commissionerate Women and Child Development, and Gujarat Women’s Economic Development Corporation Ltd. organized a program at Ahmedabad on 6-01-2002 under the Chairmanship of Shri Narendra Modi, Honorable Chief Minister of Gujarat and Smt. Anandiben Patel, Honorable Minister Education (Primary, Secondary and Adult) Women and Child Welfare and Smt. Jasumatiben Korat, Honorable Minister of State for Women and Child Welfare as Chief Guest.
The Programme was attended by over 3500 women from different parts of Gujarat. Smt. Mayaben Kodnani MLA, Smt. Vauban Trivedi, Chairperson of Gujarat Tourism Development Corporation, and other prominent women addressed the gatherings.
A cultural program ‘Rangla-Rangli’ is being performed during the ‘Mahila Adhikarita Vichar Goshthi’ program under the Chairmanship of Hon. C.M. Gujarat.
‘Adivasi No Garbo’ is A folk dance of Scheduled Tribe ladies of Gujarat being performed by the members of Swashakti Project, Sabarkantha District.
A vast group of spectators who belonged to various NGOs working for Women and Child Welfare and women from different areas of Gujarat enjoyed the program of “Mahila Adhikarita Vichar Goshthi” Hon. C.M. of Gujarat addressing the representatives of NGOs on the occasion of the ‘Mahila Adhikarita Vichar Goshthi’ program held to facilitate the constitution of ‘State Women’s Commission’ and the creation of a new Women and Child Development Department at the Secretariat.
